Irani honours Asha Bahus

Union Minister for Women and Child Development and Textiles Smriti Irani on Thursday honoured the Asha Bahus in her Amethi parliamentary constituency and laid the foundation stones of Kitchen Garden Scheme in 638 primary schools.

The kitchen gardens will be developed at a cost of Rs 95.70 lakh

“I am very fortunate that I am representing Amethi in the Lok Sabha. The people here have given a clear message that they have elected their elder sister and now my duty is to honour them. I am ready to serve them and do whatever development works are required in the constituency,” she said while honouring the Asha Bahus in Amethi on Thursday afternoon.

“I am ready to serve you 24 hours a day and the people of Amethi can meet me in Amethi or in Delhi any time in connection with development and welfare of the constituency,” she said.

Claiming that the 100 days of the second term of Prime Minister Narendra Modi had already linked six crore farmers with Kisan Samman Yojana fund, Irani said that in Amethi too, Rs 225 crore had been spent on 210 schemes launched so far.

Besides, she said, Rs 800 crore had been spent alone in Amethi in the past 100 days, including Rs 550 crore spent by the Railways.

BJP MLA from Amethi, Garima Singh, lauded the role of Asha Bahus in serve the women by providing them medical help during pregnancy.

She said the Kitchen Garden Scheme would also help primary children in their mid-day meal distribution.

Meanwhile, Irani also unveiled a statue of Swami Vivekananda on the premises of Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Petroleum Technology in Amethi.

The Union minister later met Army Chief General Vipin Rawat and Lt Gen P Krishnan at the CRPF group centre at Trishundi on Ayodhya-Allahabad highway.

Sources said Irani discussed local and other issues, including preparations for recruitment in Army at the Trishundi centre, with the Army chief.

Youths from nine districts will be taking part in the recruitment rally at Trishundi centre.
