UP CM warns defaulting sugar mills

Issuing a warning that the defaulting sugar mills would be put under the hammer, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said that his government would not allow anyone to exploit farmers and would ensure that the farmers got good price for their produce.

“If anyone believes that he is going to earn by withholding the payment of cane farmers, then he is mistaken. The cane farmers should not worry as the government will pay their cane arrears. If needed, we will auction the defaulting mills. We have paid the cane arrears to farmers by auctioning one such mill in Maharajganj,” the Chief Minister said while inaugurating campus building of the Agriculture College located at Jamunabad Farm in Gola Gokarannath town of Lakhimpur Kheri.

Addressing a huge gathering, Yogi Adityanath said that soon the government would take stern action against those sugar mills that were not making payments to the sugarcane farmers.

“There are nine sugar mills in the district out of which six have paid the cane price. We will soon tighten the noose around the remaining three mills that have not cleared the dues,” he said.

The Chief Minister said that it was taking lots of efforts to get rid of the stagnation created by Samajwadi Party and Bahujan Samaj Party in the last 15 years.

“The results of that effort are being seen in the form of welfare of farmers and youth. There is transparency in recruitment for government jobs in Uttar Pradesh. We do not reserve jobs for any particular caste, region or district and every youth of the state has a right on it. Those who rob the Uttar Pradesh youth of jobs will be jailed,” he said.

The Chief Minister said that agriculture and agricultural education were being carried forward through technology. “At present, the state government is building agriculture college here and in future, a medical college will also come up in this district,” he said.

“There are three Vantangiya villages here that have not received any basic facilities after Independence. People living in these villages are also citizens of India and they should get the benefits of all government schemes. I will ask the district administration to send a proposal for making these villages revenue villages without any delay. After becoming revenue villages, these villages will have all facilities in a year,” Yogi Adityanath said.

The Chief Minister urged the farmers to stop burning stubble and sugarcane leaves as the harmful smoke damages environment.
