UP polls to be a battle of ideologies: Priyanka
Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra said that the coming assembly polls in Uttar Pradesh would be a battle of ideologies and Congress would pull all stops to achieve the electoral goal.
While addressing the block presidents by phone at the Purvanchal training camp on the second day on Sunday, Priyanka said the block presidents would play an important role in the upcoming assembly polls.
She said the UP polls would be a battle of ideology and would be fought firmly. “Our duty is to stand against injustice,” she said.
The Congress general secretary said the Bharatiya Janata Party government was anti-farmer and was standing with some capitalists.
On Sunday, the training camp started with prabhat pheri and held discussions on social media, organisation and panchayat elections.
Around 155 block presidents of Purvanchal zone were trained in the camp at Gola Bazaar, 60 km from Gorakhpur district headquarters.
Congress, in political wilderness in Uttar Pradesh for the last over three decades, is desperate to regain the lost ground in eastern UP. To achieve this objective, the Congress had organised the two-day training camp for the block presidents of 11 districts of east UP. UP Congress President Ajay Kumar Lallu had inaugurated the camp on Friday. The Congress is attempting to revive the organisation at grassroots level from village panchayat level to block level.
Priyanka Gandhi Vadra has stepped up the efforts for the revival of the organisation after the pandemic situation is well under control in the state.
Ajay Kumar Lallu said the former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi throughout his life worked for strengthening the panchayat institutions and also the party organisation at village panchayat level. He said Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, ever since taking over as Congress general secretary, was working hard for the revival of the party organisation at the grassroots level.
He said the block presidents of the Congress from 11 districts Varanasi, Azamgarh, Mau, Deoria, Gorakhpur, Kushinagar, Maharajganj, Sant Kabir Nagar, Siddharthnagar and Basti participated in the two-day event.
