Use vermicompost for high yield, Baghel to farmers
Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel on Sunday urged farmers to use vermicompost manure produced at Gauthans in place of DAP fertilizer to secure high yield.
“Its use must be promoted among the farmers to boost soil health and land fertility apart from getting high yield,” Baghel told a virtual programme on Godhan Nyay Yojana at his official residence here.
Baghel released an amount of Rs 2.92 crores to cattle owners, Gauthan committees and women Self-Help Groups (SHGs) associated with state-run Gauthans under the state’s flagship Godhan Nyay Yojana.
The Chief Minister also appealed to farmers and livestock owners not to leave their animals in the open. They should be kept either in houses or at the Gauthans in their villages.
Baghel also asked farmers not to burn paddy straw. Instead use them to fed the animals in Gauthans.
The Chief Minister said about 14 lakh quintals of vermicompost were manufactured in Gauthans, out of which 9 lakh quintals were sold. Most of it has been used by farmers.
He was informed that 55.77 lakh quintals of cow dung have been purchased till November 15 under Godhan Nyay Yojana.
