Seemingly unfazed by the demonetisation chaos, voters in both Shahdol parliamentary seat and Nepanagar assembly constituency lined up before polling booths in sizable numbers as the polling for the by-polls got underway on Saturday.
Within first three and a half hours of polling, 25% voters turned up at polling booths in Shahdol while as much as 34% exercised their voting right in the first 3.5 hours in Nepanagar.
Around 16 lakh voters spread across eight constituencies are deciding the fate of 17 candidates at 2070 polling booths in Shahdol.
Voting picked up as the day progressed. Agents of political parties also felicitated voters at polling booths.

Polling was brisker at Nepanagar where several polling booths registered as much as 45% voting till 11am. In all, the assembly constituency registered 26% voting by 11am. However there were polling booths where one or two voters were seen casting their vote.
A little over 2.30 lakh voters are deciding the fate of four candidates by exercising their franchise at 296 polling booths in Nepanagar.
