Wholesale corridor to come up in Durg: CM
Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel on Friday inaugurated a new office of the Durg District Trade and Industry Centre and said a wholesale corridor similar to that in Raipur will be built in Durg as well.
The state government aims to create opportunities for all in both the core sector and beyond, he said, and urged the Durg Collector to earmark the land for it.
Durg is an industrial district but Bhilai is recognized as an industrial centre of the country due to the Bhilai Steel Plant. Privatisation and automation technology led to the decline of the workforce. Durg is also a hub of vegetables and fruits, he said.
He added that Chhattisgarh’s new industrial policy has been formulated after discussions with industrialists and incorporating innovative aspects of other states.
The industry should have the capacity to create employment. The residents should be assured that any new industry will open up more job avenues. They need not migrate in search of work to other states.
He said the industrialists have been asked to conduct local surveys with a focus on skill development of local residents.
