Woman Killed Wild Elephant in CGs Jashpur
JASHPUR: A 55-year-old woman was stamped to death a wild elephant in CG Jashpur, a forest official said today.
According to the details given the official, the incident took place near Jhikki village under Bagich PS on Saturday evening when the victim identified as Phulbaso Bai ventured into the forest to collect wood.
On receiving information about the attack, the police and forest personnel immediately rushed to the spot and sealed the area sending the body for postmortem.
The kin of the victim has been provided with a relief of Rs 25,000 and a compensation of Rs 5.75 Lkah will be disbursed from the state funds after the completion of the formalities.
Human-elephant conflicts in CG and neighboring forest regions are on the rise. According to the forest department so far, 220 people have been killed in the state in the past 3 years.
