Yogi call to save every drop of rain water

On the occasion of Ganga Dussehra on Wednesday, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath asked people of Uttar Pradesh to save every drop of rain water so that drinking water could be provided to the people of the state which was undergoing a crisis on this front.

In his blog, released on Wednesday, Yogi said that the need of the hour was to protect every drop of rain water.

“The monsoon is around the corner. Every panchayat, nagar parishad and individual society should make efforts to ensure that every water body gets filled to the brim. Rain water should not go waste,” he said.

Yogi talked about the importance of ground water and how people were craving to get drinking water. He said that village ponds should be desilted and it was the responsibility of gram panchayats to do so.

Highlighting the problem, the Chief Minister said that out of 823 blocks, the condition of groundwater level in 113 blocks was grave, in 59 blocks it was critical and in 45 blocks it was semi-critical.

“On the day of Ganga Dussehra, we should all take a pledge to save water so that people could get drinking water as per their requirement,” he said.

Yogi also talked about the importance of the Ganga river as per Hindu religion and the efforts being put in by Prime Minister Narendra Modi to make it pollution-free. “The Namami Gange project is a success and the result is evident to all,” he said.
