Yogi: Schools, colleges should debate abrogation of Art 370
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said that educational institutions should debate on abrogation of Article 370 that granted special status to Jammu and Kashmir and also on instant triple talaq as this would enlighten the students and show them the prevailing ills and teach them the mechanism to counter them.
Addressing teachers after felicitating them on Teacher’s Day in the presence of Governor Anandiben Patel and other dignitaries in Lucknow on Thursday, the Chief Minister said that the students should be made aware of the reason for abrogation of Article 370 and for this all schools and colleges should hold debates on this subject.
“Teachers should make students aware why Syama Prasad Mookerjee opposed Article 370 and schools and colleges should organise debates and other contests. They should also send greetings to the Prime Minister for this achievement,” he said.
Detailing his government’s achievement in improving education in the state, Yogi Adityanath said that when the Bharatiya Janata Party came to power, the system was in a mess and cheating mafia were ruling the roost.
“But in the last two-and-half years, we have been able to set things in order,” he said.
The Chief Minister said that the biggest challenge before the BJP government was conducting cheating-free examination, which was achieved.
“Now, sessions have been regularised in higher education which is a positive change,” he said.
“A movement was launched to ensure admission of all students in schools and this has ensured huge improvement in education. Rapid changes have been witnessed in the system and those doing good work in the field have been felicitated at all levels. While the government awards teachers for their dedication, action would be taken against those who are lax,” Yogi said.
Highlighting the importance of NCERT syllabus, the Chief Minister said with its introduction at secondary and basic levels, every student in the state was being taught to clear the examination.
“Efforts made by the state government to reform higher, secondary and basic education are bringing good results today,” he claimed.
Referring to advancement in the field of education, Yogi said that as many as 21,000 un-aided colleges had been constructed in the state. “Efforts are being made to guarantee social security to students and teachers at these colleges besides ensuring quality education,” he added.
“The state government is also taking measures to build universities at places where private universities cannot be opened. Our government has also initiated the process for setting up two new state universities in Saharanpur and Azamgarh,” he said.
“Education is not merely a source of obtaining degrees and taking up certificate courses. In fact, it lays the foundation of overall development of personality and is also an important link in the effort to make the future progressive and bright,” Yogi said.
Addressing the teachers, Governor Anandiben Patel also shared her experiences as teacher, education minister, chief minister and governor. She also gave examples of some teachers who were doing exemplary work in their field. She said that today was an opportunity to appreciate teachers, who have done commendable work.
The Governor also advised teachers to take a pledge to make their schools better.
Deputy Chief Minister Dinesh Sharma said that those who had worked tirelessly in the field of education had been honoured today.
“A teacher plays the most important role in building new India. An online process has been started to ensure transparent policy for teachers. So far 2,800 transfers have taken place but no question has being raised. In the BJP regime, there has been cheating-free examinations and now it has become the subject of research for other states,” Sharma said.
Governor Anandiben Patel and Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath honoured 31 teachers and conferred Saraswati Samman on two teachers. Deputy Chief Minister Dinesh Sharma along with acting Chief Secretary RK Tiwari were also present on the occasion.
