Bilaspur High Court on Friday issued notice to Principal Secretary of Chhattisgarh, State Law Department and Vice Chancellor of Hidyatullah National Law University (HNLU).
Reportedly, State Bar Council Chairman cum Advocate Koshram Sahu had filed a petition in Bilaspur HC that Vice Chancellor of Hidyatullah National Law University (HNLU) Dr Sukhpal Singh has been given extension in services in a wrongful way and demanded his immediate removal.

Noteworthy, the HC has also sought replies on the notices.
As per a source, Sukhpal Singh was appointed HNLU’s VC in March for a time period of 2011-16.
In 2014 September, he had put a proposal for extension of his working tenure and services before University Working Committee and finally got it approved.
As per laws, demanding extension of services is illegal and can be termed as a misuse of the power. Thus, the extension was challenged in court.
Meanwhile, the HMLU VC Sukhpal SIngh refused to make any comment on the issue.
