Pradhan dedicates ‘Covid Care’ facility in Bhilai

Union Minister of Petroleum and Natural Gas and Steel Dharmendra Pradhan on Thursday dedicated to the nation a 114-bed Covid Care Facility in the Bhilai Steel Plant (BSP) in Chhattisgarh.

The hospital is equipped with gaseous oxygen and has been set up after laying a pipeline of 1.5 km for its supply from the plant. This is the first phase of the project which aims to eventually provide 500 oxygenated beds in two more phases.

The centre has a facility of double oxygen back-up supply. Apart from gaseous oxygen as the main source, there is provision of back-up stored Liquid Medical Oxygen. It is equipped with Internet and telecom services to facilitate IT requirements and remote consultancy. Pradhan said Prime Minister Narendra Modi has given the mantra of “Jahan Bimaar, Wahi Upchaar” and setting up hospitals near the source of gaseous oxygen. The Minister assured that the Centre and SAIL stand by Chhattisgarh and will do everything possible to maximise vaccination for the people of the state. Minister of State for Steel Faggan Singh Kulaste spoke about various measures being taken by the steel sector during the pandemic. Chhattisgarh Ministers T.S. Singh Deo and Mohammad Akbar and MPs Saroj Pandey and Vijay Baghel also took part in the virtual inauguration.
