Yogi: Knowledge expands horizon UP ministers go to IIM-L for ‘Manthan’

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said that there was no age limit to learn something new and one should not miss any opportunity one gets to learn because new information only increases knowledge and expands horizon.

“God has given us a life to serve humanity. We can serve people better if we have knowledge about the surrounding and the work we are doing. We should gather any bit of information as new information expands our horizon,” Yogi Adityanath said during Leadership Development Meet held on the campus of Indian Institute of Management in Lucknow (IIM-L) here on Sunday.

The meet, which was named ‘Manthan’, was attended by all the ministers in the UP council of ministers and they were taught the nitty-gritty of governance by professors of the IIM-L.

Experts in various fields were also present.

The Chief Minister said that the Bharatiya Janata Party government in UP was working hard to provide succour to the deprived sections of society.

“The governance in Uttar Pradesh is based on understanding the problems of the people. The ministers have come to IIM to learn how to increase the skills of management, good leadership and motivating participation of people in various projects,” he said

“Our government is working on the principle of Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas. We take ideas from all quarters and give a try to those which we find to be feasible and suitable,” he said.

The Chief Minister described how the government implemented a suggestion of an IAS officer for bringing changes in primary schools. “We got positive results because we believe that educational institutions can play an instrumental role in bringing a change in society,” he added.

“The knowledge we will get from IIM will help us in understanding the plight of the people and in implementing policies in a better way,” he said.

IIM-L Director Prof Archana Shukla said that Uttar Pradesh was the backbone of the country and a developed UP could help in making India strong.

“India is a big democracy where leaders play a crucial role. People have high hopes from leaders. Programmes like Manthan will help the leaders and ministers to understand people’s problems so that they can solve it better,” she said.

The leadership development programme will be held in three stages. The first stage was held on Sunday while the other stages will be held on September 15 and 22.

The professors of IIM-L held orientation programmes in which the ministers were taught about good governance and virtue of fiscal management. Question- answer sessions were held in which ministers were asked to raise questions so that they could clear their doubts.
