As an impact of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s decision to demonetize notes of Rs 500 and Rs 1000, Raipur Municipal Corporation (RMC) has recovered around 9.30 crore from old notes within four days in the form of property and other taxes.
From November 11 to 14, RMC has recovered Rs 9.30 crore as different taxes from old notes of Rs 500 and Rs 1000. RMC is going to accept Rs 500 and Rs 1000 notes till November 24 for payment of taxes.
Raipur Municipal Corporation collects Rs 9.30 crore from taxes
According to RMC Commissioner Rajat Bansal, the corporation has received Rs 22 lakh from advertisement tax on Sunday and around Rs 1.50 crore as tax while Rs 2.95 crore on Monday.
Similarly, Rs 2.70 crore was recovered on November 11 and Rs 1.60 crore (November 12). The corporation is expected to recovered taxes in very large number as the campaign to accept taxes with old notes would continue till November 24.
In a wake of the decision, old defaulters as well as advertizing agencies are turning to RMC and zone offices for payment of taxes, said Revenue Deputy Commissioner R K Dongre, adding that the decision came as a positive sign for civic bodies across the country.
